What is a Practice Nurse?

Is a registered or enrolled nurse who works within a medical practice. The practice nurse works alongside the doctors and provides the following services:

  • Wound dressing;
  • Immunisations;
  • Health checks - 4 year old, 45 - 49 year old and over 75 years old;
  • Chronic disease management and monitoring;
  • Pap screening recalls and monitoring;
  • Triage

Most generally the patient is referred to the practice nurse depending on individual requirements and in this way there is no fee for the service.
